Eating disorders (ED)

Eating disorders (ED) are related to abnormal eating behaviors and attitudes. These disorders can have serious consequences for a person’s physical and mental health and, in some cases, can be life-threatening. Some of the most common eating disorders include:

  • Anorexia nervosa
  • Bulimia nervosa
  • Binge eating disorder
  • Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID)
  • Orthorexia: Although not officially recognized as a disorder in diagnostic manuals, orthorexia refers to an unhealthy obsession with consuming foods that the person considers healthy and clean.
